What is Neural Therapy?
Neural Therapy is a treatment method applied by injecting a diluted local anesthetic (0.5-1%) containing serum physiologic into special points in the body. This treatment aims to treat diseases by correcting the broken messages in the nerve network that regulates all balances of the body. The autonomic nervous system is a very important system that manages the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, immune, hormonal and all other imaginable functions of the body.
It is a system that reaches to the farthest points of the body like a spider web and collects all the information that can create stress in the body, and manages all the functions of the body in the light of this information. All the information collected by this system is recorded and these records are necessary to be prepared for similar situations later.
However, when these records are filled too much, a situation is created against the body and the body starts to give exaggerated responses even with the slightest stimulus or without any stimulus. This is exactly what is called a disease. For example, a person gets sick from the slightest breeze, or their waist can stiffen with a slight bend, or everything they eat starts to touch them, or they start to have a blood pressure problem, etc. We call the factors that fill these records of the autonomic nervous system stress. When we say stress, only psychological stress should not come to mind.
In addition to physical stresses such as surgeries, accidents, diseases, posture disorders, scars, there may also be chemical stresses such as vitamin and mineral deficiencies, malnutrition, heavy metal and acid accumulations in the body. Erasing these records also eliminates the disease. The most important treatment method that can erase the records in the nervous system is the injection of local anesthetic into the areas where the records are kept, i.e. Neural Therapy
In Which Diseases Is It Applied?
Since it is a regulation treatment, it is used in every conceivable disease except hereditary diseases. However, in order to be successful in the treatment, it is necessary to determine well which mechanism is causing the disease. In our clinic, we use Neural Therapy mostly in diseases of the movement system that are painful and cause functional limitations. However, it should not be forgotten that although medicine is divided into branches, the body is not divided into branches and the systems affect each other as a whole.
For example, a painful shoulder problem may be due to a liver problem, similarly, fibromyalgia with widespread pain may be due to bowel problems. The diseases that most frequently apply to us and that we treat in our clinic are as follows;
- Waist, neck, back pain and hernias,
- Shoulder, elbow, hand-wrist pain,
- Hip, knee, foot pain, arthritis,
- Headaches, dizziness,
- Fibromyalgia Syndrome,
- Inflammatory rheumatic diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis,
- Skin diseases, Psoriasis, urticaria, eczema, rosacea, shingles,
- Digestive system diseases Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis, gastritis, esophagitis,
- Allergic diseases, food sensitivities,
- Cognitive problems such as depression, panic attacks,
- Urinary tract problems, sexual dysfunctions, menstrual irregularities, painful menstruation, prostate in men,
- Metabolic problems diabetes, obesity,
- Circulatory problems varicose veins, lymphedema, cellulite.
Does it have any side effects?
Since no medication is used in the treatment, there are no significant side effects. Since the local anesthetics used (lidocaine or procaine) are diluted to 0.5-1%, they do not cause any side effects. It should not be applied to patients who are allergic to local anesthetics alone. Only occasionally, slight bruising and temporary pain increases may occur due to the injection.
How Does the Body React After Application?
The body may give different types of responses after the injection. We call these responses phenomena in Neural Therapy. These responses may sometimes even be in the form of an increase in pain, but they are not side effects and all of the responses have a meaning. If these responses are read correctly by the physician, they will lead us to a definite cure.
The body may give the following types of responses after neural therapy injections are administered.
- The pain decreases but does not completely go away, then starts to increase again in a few days but is not as intense as before. In this case, the problems detected are correct, the same injections should be continued until the pain completely disappears.
- The pain disappears immediately as soon as the injection is made, but the pain increases again the next day, although not with the same intensity. In this case, a successful interference field injection has been made. The same injections should be continued until the interference field effect disappears.
- The pain does not decrease and becomes even more severe for 1-3 days, then it regresses to its previous level. In this case, the source of the pain is not in the injection area, but in another part of the body, there is a problematic body area, namely the interference field, which is the main source of the pain. This area should be determined with neural therapy examination techniques and the injection should be made there.
- The pain does not decrease and pain occurs in a completely different place where there is no pain. In this case, the area where the new pain occurs is a problematic body area, namely the interference field. When the injection is made to this new body area, the pain in both areas disappears.
These phenomena that occur after the injection are not a side effect but the body’s way of expressing itself. If the patient shares these phenomena with his doctor and the doctor reads these phenomena correctly, the treatment will move in the right direction and the treatment will result in complete healing.
Is the method painful?
Generally, since the application is made with thin needles into the skin and soft tissues such as muscles and tendons, there is no disturbing pain.
How is it applied?
Certain application methods are listed below. Not all of these methods need to be applied. The doctor decides which ones to apply according to the information and findings.
- Local Application: It is applied wherever the disease or pain is.
- Segmental Application: The body is managed by the autonomic nervous system, which is a part of the structure of 31 pairs of spinal nerves originating from each spinal level. Each spinal cord level (segment) manages the organs inside the body as well as the muscles, bones and skin surrounding the body. Injections to the skin, muscles, tendons and joints managed by the spinal cord levels where the disease is located are called segmental treatment, and we also treat the organs in the same segment.
- Extended Segmental Application: It is the injection of upper effective control centers that can affect many segments at the same time.
- Disruptive Field Treatment: Applications made to problematic body areas such as scars, inflamed tooth roots, which create chronic biophysical stress in the body and cause disease.
What is the frequency of application and number of sessions?
A second session is applied at least 3 days after one session. Usually, one application per week is appropriate. The number of sessions to be applied varies according to the patient and the disease. While acute and simple problems can be treated in one or several sessions, the treatment of chronic and complex problems such as inflammatory rheumatic diseases can take 10-15 sessions and sometimes more.

Neural therapy is a functional medicine treatment in which local anesthetic injections are applied to specific points in the body to regulate the nervous system.
It is used for chronic pain, migraines, fibromyalgia, nerve compressions, digestive disorders, and menstrual irregularities.
Injections are administered subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or at specific nerve points; sessions are planned according to the individual’s needs.
When performed by trained physicians, it is very safe; serious side effects are rare.
Depending on the condition, 3 to 10 sessions may be applied.
