Ozone Therapy
What is Ozone Therapy?
Ozone is a gas consisting of 3 oxygen atoms. It is found in the atmosphere in certain proportions in nature. It is one of the most powerful oxidant and disinfectant substances. Ozone therapy is the use of ozone gas obtained through medical ozone generators in the treatment of diseases by giving it to the body in various ways.
What are its effects?
The main effect of ozone is the activation of the body’s antioxidant and immune systems against oxidative stress caused by hydrogen peroxide formed in the liquid medium and the oxidation of unsaturated fatty acids in the cell membrane. We can list the effects of ozone on the body as follows;
- Activates antioxidant enzymes
- Enables the separation of oxygen from hemoglobin, thus increasing the oxygenation of the tissues
- Strengthens the defense systems of the cells against carcinogenic effects
- Activates the immune system in low doses, suppresses in high doses
- Triggers the repair mechanisms of the tissues
- Has a lethal effect on bacteria, fungi and viruses
How is the treatment performed?
- Major Autohemotherapy: It is a method of comparing the patient’s blood with ozone gas in a sterile and closed environment and returning it to the body. It is mostly preferred in systemic diseases.
- Local Applications: It is the direct injection of ozone gas into diseased tissues. In our clinic, it is mostly applied to joints and painful muscle problems.
- Rectal Application: It is the direct injection of ozone gas into the intestines through the anal route. It is very effective in intestinal diseases.
- Bagging: In open and non-healing wounds, it is the direct comparison of the wound with ozone gas using special bags in the form of gloves and socks.
In Which Diseases is it Applied in Our Clinic?
- In healthy individuals, for the purpose of triggering the immune system, detoxification, and revitalizing metabolism,
- Blood therapy to revitalize metabolism in obesity rehabilitation, ozone mesotherapy for regional slimming and cellulite treatment,
- Blood therapy or rectally for fibromyalgia syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, widespread musculoskeletal pain, inflammatory rheumatic diseases,
- Direct injection for local diseases such as low back and neck pain, hernias, calcifications, soft tissue rheumatism,
- Blood therapy or rectally for neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s, Stroke, MS, Cerebral Palsy.
What is the Frequency of Treatment?
It is usually applied in 1-2 sessions per week and an average of 10 sessions in total.
